I use to be the one with the worst natural hair you can imagine ever really. If I could just go back 7 years to when I was not even concerned with the health and natural hair or even worried about taking care of my own hair. I can honestly say my hair has over gone some serious transitioning since that time, and is still in transition mode for pure beauty. I love my real hair but at the same time some times I actually hate it, weird I know. I have a love hate relationship with my hair. I know it sounds crazy. I am weird like that. I can remember in the early stages of my journey to natural hair like 3 years in, I can remember being in a relationship with my ex from Toronto Canada. He's a hair dresser and  has a shop out in Canada he told me to come by one day and I went over and he has never seen or even new how long my real hair was, he always use to ask me to see it and I would get all weird, so that day, I went into his shop, he sat me down and made me take off my wig, lol so he could do my hair. I finally agreed to and he went full in and washed it,dyed it,also bleached it. I was freaking out cause I had went on this whole journey to healthy hair and was very weird about anyone doing my hair let alone putting any chemicals in it. Well after that whole thing I am glad I let him do it. After all he was a professional in the hair world and knew what he was doing. He was so mad at me when he finally saw my actual hair and just kept asking me why are you hiding all this hair, under a weave, and I was trying to explain to him that I love long hair and it is not long enough for me. I want it longer. So after arguing for a bit, I finally agreed we picked out the colors and I just had to trust that it was gonna turn out good. I wish I had taken pictures this dye job he did amazing and the colors where popping. I use to get compliments daily,it was like brown, blonde, and a hint of this like reddish brown color. It was 3 colors of dye and bleached all mixed up with streaks in it. This hair style was so cool. When it was done. I did a wash and go style. I use to wear it out a lot with just natural curls. It was like diffused under a blow dryer type of style. After he gave me all this salon shampoos and conditioner to use for color treated hair, and a huge thing of that Moroccan oil the jar is like $35 dollars in the store it was this oil you put in your hair daily to help keep it to stay healthy and grow long as well, I loved that stuff, it smelled so good. Anyways I never died my hair ever again since and all that dye grew out over time the colors in my hair. I use to do trims monthly and dust my own ends. But a lot of people hate dying hair especially if they are on a hair journey to natural hair. Cause it is a chemical, but this is why now If I dye my hair, I only use henna, its a natural dye as you can see on the pictures above it looks kind of brown tinted that is the henna dye. Its a all natural dye and conditioner to help the hair and its growth and health. I have learned so much about natural hair. You really do embrace and treat your hair with love and lots of patience let me just add hair takes time to grow, especially mix or ethnic races. Our hair only grows half an inch a month as for Caucasians hair grows one inch a month so it is definitely a waiting game to grow your hair to the desired length. I am always experimenting with my hair and can't wait for another year from now to see where it is at. So I can really start wearing  it out I get tired of weaves and extensions. But don't get me wrong, I love my fake hair extensions and random styles but its nothing like your own hair that is real and yours. So I just wanted to share the pictures I took today after washing my hair and putting it up in a high ponytail. It has a tint of brown in it from the henna treatment I did. I try to make sure I keep it conditioned daily. I also used pure pressed coconut oil from trader joe's in my head. My hair type is 3 b 3 a and it loves conditioner it eats it up our hair is like a plant really. As soon as you condition your hair it eats it up. And you have to constantly keep feeding your hair nutrients and vitamins to keep it moist and conditioned. You can't let it ever get dry, that is why hair breaks off and you get split ends. Ethnic hair is very fragile to. When it is wet you always need to use a wide tooth  comb and be gentle when brushing cause our hair snaps off like a rubber band when wet if brushed to hard. And can break and be damaged so the hair must be handled gently and treated with care. I also forgot to add my hair has some serious shirnkage that's when it is wet it looks super short even when it drys up, then you pull and stretch it out to see where it is at. The length of it and it was all the way passed under my bra, shocking. I hate the shrinkage part, I don't know why hair does that whole shrinkage thing, you think its short then you stretch it out and its super long weird. I will make an effort to go get a blow out one of these days and do a blog on the actual length of my hair so you can see the true length of it. Hope you enjoyed this blog on my hair journey till next time xoxox Maryam
